Materials & specification

Appearance, performance and budget — resolved as one design

A strong specification is not a shopping list. Cladding, roof, glazing, insulation, foundations and interiors must work together for the intended use and site.

Year-round comfort

Warm, dry and properly detailed through the seasons

Depending on the project, wall, roof and floor build-ups may combine mineral wool, PIR where appropriate, structural sheathing, breathable membranes, vapour control layers and carefully detailed timber-frame junctions.

01

Thermal strategy

Insulation selected and detailed around the building’s intended use and technical route.

02

Moisture control

Breathable and vapour-control layers developed as part of the whole envelope.

03

Glazing performance

UPVC, aluminium, timber or alu-clad routes balanced against design and budget.

04

Long-life detailing

Ventilation, drainage and junctions considered for British weather and maintenance.

External palette

Materials that feel right in a British setting

Cladding

Western Red Cedar, Thermowood, painted timber, charred or blackened timber, composite and selected Millboard finishes.

Roofing

EPDM, standing-seam style metal, aluminium systems, cedar or bitumen shingles, slate and tile where appropriate.

Windows & doors

Value-led UPVC, architectural aluminium and selected timber or alu-clad systems.

Below the building

The foundation route follows the ground, access and structure

Depending on the project, Lodrix can work with concrete bases, screw pile systems or more engineered substructures. Survey stage also considers drainage, rainwater, services, external levels, boundaries and installation access.

Interior & lifestyle fit-out

The finished space should feel as considered as the exterior

Selected turnkey proposals can incorporate interior layouts, lighting, kitchens and bathrooms, fitted joinery, storage, heating, smart controls, furniture schedules and styling direction.

01

Interior planning

Room relationships, circulation and furniture considered before the technical design is fixed.

02

Kitchens & bathrooms

Practical specification coordinated with services, ventilation and the overall finish level.

03

Lighting & smart controls

Layered lighting, heating, AV, CCTV and controls where the brief requires them.

04

Furniture & styling

Furniture sourcing and a coherent final palette incorporated into selected premium proposals.

Warranty & aftercare

Reassurance that matches the eligible project route

For eligible projects, Lodrix can offer IWA-backed reassurance subject to scheme terms, project eligibility, specification and final contract. This may include eligible deposit protection, insurance-backed cover and structural integrity reassurance through the relevant route.
